Judgement Ground game artwork

For part our course in second year, we were split up and put into teams to create an interactive fiction game based around Lina Bo Bardi's playground. We collaborated with students in the creative writing course who wrote the story and script for our game and came up with different roles for the production of the game, but our team had some difficulties as half of the people in our team disappeared halfway through the year and we weren't able to contact them.

To compensate for this, those of us who were left took on more roles and made more assets for the game. I took the roles of designing the protagonist, a few props, the background for the elevator scene and 'Purgatory' ending, and the audio work, as I've done some basic sound editing in Audacity years ago. I've also come up with the concept of how one of the three endings goes, though the final version of it is different due to copyright for the music I used in the concept. I've made a video of the concept version of the purgatory ending, using the music that we couldn't include due to copyright, and uploaded it to YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UysxUFP1PA

The benchmark style we chose was Omori, so I tried to replicate the style in my art. I designed the old man character after my deceased grandfather and I designed a few trophies to be added into the background of the title screen when the player achieves its respective ending the first time. Our coder tried to use them as the icons for achievements for getting one of the endings, but it proved to be too difficult for her, so they were ultimately unused.

This is the cover image for our game on Itch.io. Someone else drew the background, I just added the protagonist from a front view into it.

These are the different sprites of the protagonist. I designed them to look gender ambiguous and morally ambiguous so that the audience can decided their gender and moral standing

These are the sprites of the 'Old man' character who I've designed after my deceased grandfather. The sad sprite on the top right was meant to be used in the game, but our team's programmer probably forgot.
